Here are some more:
“Sir, i am in municipal office need to register my new address on ration card”
“My relatives are coming from —– and nobody is there to receive them from station”
“my tinky got fractured”

But not every reason is excuse. there are some serious reasons and there are some problems which an individual is facing everyday, though he is not mentioning all of them, every time. but some times there are some reasons which are not just excuses but, unavoidable circumstances!

Well, I have quite a few to share. I’ll post a few.

“Sir I hurt my eye while returning from this place”
“I am not feeling well”
“I have to pick up my friend from the airport”
“My head is paining”
“My ______ is ill, I have to take him/her to the doctor/for a check up. (This is the most versatile one which can be re-used quite a few times. Just fill in the blank with a new person every time.)

This one’s my favourite, “Oh! I thought we weren’t working today”

On second thoughts, it must be really hard for them too.
